encaustic landscapes

Liz describes herself as a predominantly self-taught artist, picking up skills,
ideas and inspiration from a combination of places, allowing for an unfettered approach
to her art making practice. Liz has been participating in combined and solo exhibitions,
both in Sydney and Regional NSW, for the last eleven years.

Landscape Study, Gold & Grey II - encaustic on paper

Liz’s work is best described as a combined interpretation of both the immediate
physical landscape, and that of the internal landscape. Her choice of encaustic (wax)
as a medium in the creative process is for both its architectural and reductive qualities,
allowing for a narrative to build through the layers which can then also be selectively
revealed by carving, scraping and melting.

Liz’s exhibition at the Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral will feature new landscape works unique to the encaustic process.
