One is initially invited to an overview the woven fabric like line work reminiscent of a topographic map. Within this map, the viewer is channelled into windows of delicately glazed ink was vignettes of indeterminate content. One is left questioning, enticed to explore but also limited, held on the threshold between what is and what may be. Bronwyn Berman’s exhibition ‘Works on Paper’ presents a body of drawings in pen and ink. Multi layered, earthy and mysterious, the images evoke the landscape in many forms. The geometry of the works provide an architectural framework within which the images are able to safely flow, moving away from and towards a kind of chaos, while being held to a very coherent order.
