greg hyde

In the theme of how to improve your psychic income and avoid floating anxiety, Greg has attempted to fulfil some of today’s popular concepts leaving him open to do anything (including painting some Weapons of Mass Deception) all with a quixotic smile attached.

On offer is a kaleidoscope of ideas, styles, colours and media (as Greg changes his medium as often as he finds a new subject). Many of the works on exhibition reflect the current state of the world as well as what is happening closer to home. For example the painting “Door of Understanding” is a meeting of the ways, for sooner rather than later we will have to find a new way to peace! Closer to home “ Safe Harbour” is a reflection of the wonder of whales that visit Sydney Harbour and the absurdity that they can be hunted elsewhere – a bit like some refugees! “Floating Anxiety” – there’s a lot of it about.

Born in 1950 to Russian/Australian parents, Greg style of painting combines his love of the European tradition with an insightful use of the natural features and cultural phenomena of traditional and modern Australia to create a personal iconography. He has illustrated several children’s books, exhibited throughout Australia and exhibited in the Wynne and Archibald Prizes.
